As one of the region’s largest HIV-AIDS conferences commenced Monday in Sri Lanka, China’s state media announced that unsafe sex has overtaken drug abuse as the leading cause of HIV cases in China.
The revelation brings into clear focus that community and youth education, not laws and prosecution, must play a larger role in stopping the spread of HIV-AIDS among the world’s largest population.
