The psychedelic projectors and joyously-tacky flashing Squidfinger billboards set a truely eerie atmosphere for this particular event, the CD launch of Squidfinger’s debut disco disc. And may I add that The Seaview is a fantastic summer sauna for such scintillating silliness!
It didn’t take too long for Honeycomb to fill the space, unoccupied by people, with some excellent noise which would have fit in anywhere between the Sandringham in Sydney’s inner city to the Swanbourne here in Perth.

In the spirit of dubbing certain days, weeks and even weekends as ‘awareness days’, I propose that Friday the 14th of November be called “World Drummers Day”. On this day, last Friday, the usual, scene-stealing guitar front instead gave way to the unsung and unsinging drummers in all their thumping glory at Planet.
There is nothing better than to be greeted at a venue’s door by a large group of like-minded and like-dressed folk. Just like last Friday eve, with our bright city’s gothic contingent elevating the statis of Psychodrama’s CD launch into a veritable ‘event’.

Bucket deserve to have their name up on a lighted marquee. Their truely Bostonian sound is sweet, cool indie rock – a shoegazing sight and sound which is largely unheralded in Perth but would break hearts if they had come from somewhere else.
