In the spirit of dubbing certain days, weeks and even weekends as ‘awareness days’, I propose that Friday the 14th of November be called “World Drummers Day”. On this day, last Friday, the usual, scene-stealing guitar front instead gave way to the unsung and unsinging drummers in all their thumping glory at Planet.

Bucket deserve to have their name up on a lighted marquee. Their truely Bostonian sound is sweet, cool indie rock – a shoegazing sight and sound which is largely unheralded in Perth but would break hearts if they had come from somewhere else.
With Melbourne’s Spiderbait drawing huge crowds of punters all weekend, there was no doubt the evening’s entertainment was to multiply with the deft wizardry of Cinema Prague.

As selections for support bands go the Storytime election was the right choice on this Tuesday eve. Neither Storytime or Dale are particularly renown for their lyrical gymnastics, instead there remains their respective command of the six-stringed instrument, albeit several generations and board shapes apart.
Revline – Rawkus seconded by bridesmaid I packed my flannelette skivvy and leather earplugs for this, the return gig by the ex-‘loudest pub band in the world’, Rawkus. With a new lead singer, bass player and a rumoured ‘more melodic sound’, the crowd were primed for what was to eventually become pretty unspectacular.
As well as the stunning array of glamorous, international musical megastars strolling the catwalk at Summersault, Fremantle Oval January 7, a local contingent of glamorous musical megastars will put forth their noise on the same stages.
