SKorean patience with north exhausted

South Korea’s president, Lee Myung-bak, says North Korea will pay the price for sinking the navy ship Cheonan.

In a televised address, Mr Lee has spelled out tough new sanctions and retained his country’s right to defend itself if Pyongyang responds aggressively.

Seoul will also press ahead with its demand that the UN Security Council backs increased international sanctions against the north.
