The bombing by Israel of the UN compound in Lebanon that killed one Chinese national has reignited memories of a similar incident 7 years ago which sparked massive protests in Beijing and other parts of China.
In 1999, the United States — as part of NATO — targeted and destroyed the Chinese embassy in Belgrade killing 3 nationals and sparking massive anti-American protests.. including the barricading of the US embassy in Beijing.
Adam Connors speaks with Tom Polin, a senior editor in Hong Kong who was covering the incident at the time, and asks about the parallels between the Belgrade and Lebanon strikes, and how China may react this time.
