The cost of Thailand’s worst day of political violence is being revealed by the new light of day.
The death toll has risen dramatically with police saying nine people alone were killed in one clash at a central Bangkok temple. That takes yesterday’s death toll to at least 16.
Also the city’s biggest shopping centre is collapsing after the building was gutted by one of the many fires yesterday.
The city is covered in smoke-haze after buildings including the stock exchange and banks were set ablaze by anti government protesters. Thai troops today have fired into the air as they approached a temple where hundreds of red shirt protesters are still sheltering.
